For years Nielsen Bainbridge Group ran many of its business applications with Lotus Notes using custom-built applications. As part of an internal initiative to move to a standard Microsoft platform, Mike Latimer, VP of Information Technology set about migrating away from the legacy Lotus Notes system to a more supportable and flexible Microsoft environment.
Migrating away from Lotus Notes email to Microsoft Office 365 was the first step in the process, and went without a hitch. However due to the complexity of many of the Lotus Notes applications Mike and his team needed expert support and assistance. So when they needed a partner to help them move away from their Lotus Notes applications, after much research, the obvious partner was CIMTrek. CIMTrek provided all the necessary tools and assistance to first analyse the Lotus Notes application environment and then migrate the data.
The first application to be migrated was the company’s complaints application which was a complex custom-built solution that was used throughout the business to manage the quality of their world-renown frames. This was migrated over to Office 365 SharePoint system. The remaining applications were then reviewed and a decision was made to archive them to a Microsoft SQL Azure environment so that the data held within could be used within the business.
Mike Latimer, VP of Information Technology, Nielsen Bainbridge Group stated “CIMtrek has been vital in migrating our complex custom-built Lotus Notes Complaints database to a hosted cloud environment. CIMtrek’s tenacity and determination to get the job done is exemplary.”
“As a result of their technology and services solution, we have been able to completely decommission our Notes platform in a timely and cost-effective way.”
With the help of CIMtrek, the Nielsen Bainbridge Group was able to quickly migrate critical applications and completely decommission their legacy Lotus Notes system saving the organisation over $200,000 per annum.
